Do the symptoms of MDG present differently if you had previous Lasik surgery?

I had Lasik surgery 20 years ago...left eye corrected for up close (reading) and right eye for distance (monovision). This correction worked great for 15 years and at that time I needed reader glasses. The Mad Degen started 3 1/2 years ago. My left (up close eye is toast. It doess helpto bng in light. My right eye is doing all the distance work now...20/40. I have distance glasses for driving. For reading I need 5.0 strength. I have been receiving eye injections for 3 years. Initially every 2 1/2 months, now every 3-4 months. Anyone else out there with similar issues?

  1. Hi Marcy! I deleted your email address from this post for your safety. We don't allow members to share contact information for fear that spammers will get a hold of it.
Lasik should not have any impact on macular degneration because it involves a different part of the eye. Lasik is a surface procedure that reshapes the cornea while macular degeneration involves the retina and macula, which are in the back of the eye. However, we are not medical experts, so it's best to double-check that logic with your eye doctor.
Hopefully, others will chime in here with their own experiences. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
