A New Treatment on the Horizon

This is a recent article in the New York Times on a new treatment for age related disease using cell rejuvination. So far most of the successes were on lab mice and rats. For example they removed a failing kidney from a lab rat, rejuvinated it , and reattached it. So far these tests are on lab animals, but they are starting a study on humans for an age related disease: glaucoma. If this experimental treatment is successfull I expect age related diseases of the retina will soon follow.

It is in our interest that they picked macular degeneration for a human trial but glaucoma is a good start. Also I think glaucoma is amore serious condition and causes more blindness than age related MD.
