AREDS

Someone on here said they couldn't take AREDS because it gave them heartburn. It does me, too. so I switched to New Nordic Blue Berry Eyebright or Blue Berry Strong. Small capulets easy to swallow...and NO heartburn!! Available on Amazon.

  1. thanks for sharing what you're taking instead of the AREDS2 formulation. I'm lucky that the AREDS don't make me feel ill as long as I take them with a meal. Do your supplements have any of the AREDS2 ingredients in them? Wendy, Patient Leader.

    1. The ones I'm taking (AREDS 2 PLUS) have saffron, lutein, zeaxanthin, astaxanthin, fish oil dha, and epa. I always get horrible heartburn after taking these. On the back of the box of the Blue Berry Eye Bright it says the following:
EYE HEALTH SUPPORT - 2 daily tablets help support and maintain healthy vision and normal eyesight
BENEFITS - Supports normally functioning eye function and vision while helping increase levels of macular pigmentation in your eyes to maintain normal eyesight
NATURALLY SOURCED - Natural lutein found in dark green leafy vegetables, bilberry (European blueberry) and marigold extract
PURE INGREDIENTS - Vegan, non-GMO, formulated without preservatives, artificial flavors, or colors, and free from salt, gluten, yeast, soy and dairy
SCANDINAVIAN MADE - Taking the best of traditional medicine and biological science, we source high quality, pure ingredients to create supplements that work with your body's natural systems for healthier, more sustainable results
These capulets don't really have the AREDs formula but until I find something that doesn't cause me heartburn, I'll keep taking these.

      1. thanks so much for sharing what is on the pack. I agree that we have to use our own common sense and intelligence to work out what suits us best (as well as discuss with our doctor.) I'm moving to an AREDS2 formula with less zinc for a while, 25 mg instead of 80 mg. I'm really not sure if this is the right thing to do, but I'm giving it a go. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.
