May benefit eye health. Taurine’s antioxidant effects may help combat the oxidative stress associated with retinal degenerative diseases such as age-related macular degeneration."

(Some years ago, I watched a show on Animal Planet about a woman who fed all her cats vegetarian food...no meat. Most of them went blind because they got no taurine in their diet. Cats require taurine. That made me do research on the effect of taurine on eye health.

A healthy body produces a small amount of Taurine...but I, for one, am boosting my taurine by taking one 500 mg pill each day.)

  1. CommunityMembere8f756 since my left eye is now showing signs of atrophy I am interested in any supplements or foods that may slow down the process. I have added taurine to my list of things to discuss with my retinal specialist at the next visit. Thanks for sharing, Sharon Moore patient leader.

    1. I'll be asking my RS about this too, at my next visit. Thanks for mentioning it. My list of things to ask him about is getting longer and longer 😀 Wendy, Patient Leader.
