Any natural remedy on AMD

Hi all,

I was diagnosed suffering AMD (Age-related Macula Degenation) on early July, 2025. My left-eye has blurry vision on enter but no other symptoms found. I suspect being suffered on dry AMD because my left eye still able seeing straight lines.

I have been diagnosed suffering diabetes since 2006 but it is quite stable up to now. Also I have had blood and urea tests on early July but nothing abnormal found. My care doctor said my AMD is not caused by Diabetes in the eyes. I also have ultrasonic test on my neck but nothing abnormal found.

I have had the 1st injection of aflibercept (eylea) on July 25, 2025 but with no improvement. I'll have the second aflibercept injection on the coming August 20, 2025.

I'm now in anticipation to find natural remedy to AMD but nothing found on Internet searching.

Pls advise. Thanks in advance.

  1. I have had AMD, dry macular degeneration since 2008, also cataracts since 2008. I have dry eyes since I was 35 years old. I am now almost 78 years old. I eat nothing but real food from mother earth. I don't eat factory created food, processed food or fast food. I do take supplements for my eyes and body. Omega 3 from kale. And and AREDS2 formula with very little zinc as I almost got zinc poisoning on the normal AREDS2 formula. I exercise by walking on forest trails. I don't take prescription drugs. And I don't live in a city. My food is all natural, my way of cooking is all natural. No vegetable oils. If mother natural provides it then it is on my diet as long as it is processed. I eat vegetables, fruits, nuts, meat, seafood and whole fat dairy products. I cooked only with animal fat, lard, and olive oil. My meat, dairy, and eggs are from grass fed animals and not grain fed. My bread is home made from stone ground grains, never highly refined.
I have never been hospitalized. My vision is 20/30 with my prescription glasses.

    1. The answer to a healthy life is the food we eat. The answer to what foods to eat is simply eating what God created for us to eat, and that is what mother earth provides. What has caused obesity and so many other diseases is poor eating habits. And at the top of that list is factory created and processed food. And a long with that fast food. The additional answer to most illness is putting chemicals in our bodies that is natural to our bodies including most if not all prescription drugs.

      1. I responded to this comment elsewhere, but I'll share my reply here as well:

Eating a healthy diet that features unprocessed foods can definitely help, but obesity can be much more complicated than that. Some people become obese because of unrecognized hormonal changes. They don't realize what's happening until they have already gained a lot of weigtht and they are often gaslighted by doctors who blame their weight on overeating or lack of exercise. Others fall into emotional eating during times of high stress, like the death of a loved one, a job loss, etc. They need time and counseling to get back on track. Steroids, medications for mental illnesses and other necessary drugs can also lead o significant weight gain that is hard to reverse. Here is a wonderful article from our sister community for people who are obese about the causes and risk factors that might interest you: https://obesity.net/causes. Most certainly, our current food culture plays a huge role in today's health issues. Fast food and processed foods are intentionally addicting and for us. Cutting them out is part of the answer, for sure. It just might not be the whole answer. Have you managed to eliminate processed foods? Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

      2. sorry I haven't seen any obese individuals that eat only real food. Yes you can even overweight eat real food but it isn't as likely because real food is easily more feeling that factory processed food.

    2. I don’t know if this is the kind of thing you’re looking for but I have found studies that show that anthocyanins (An antioxidant found in purple foods) can help the retina in preventing or helping people with AMD. You can fill up on blueberries (yum) or use freeze dried blueberry powder every day, as I do. After about 5 years of taking it daily my AMD hasn’t progressed. One never knows, of course, if the purple powder helpd or it would have happened anyway. Can’t hurt.

      1. If nothing else, it sounds like a tasty alternative! 😀 Blueberries, especially fresh blueberries, have so many healthy benefits. Like you noted, it can't hurt to try. Thanks for sharing. - Lori (Team Member)
