I Thought My AMD Was Getting Worse, But It's the Cataracts

Last week the lines on the Amsler grid were more wavy, so I thought that my AMD is getting worse. I went to the eye doctor this week for my regular 6-month appointment and told him that the Amsler grid lines started to become more wavy last week.

Talking to my doctor

He said that my AMD is still in the early stage, and he looked at my cataracts and said that it looked crackling and bubbly and that this is what is causing the lines on the Amsler grid to look more wavy. He said that I have about 5 years before they have to come out.

It might be cataracts

So, if you have cataracts and are seeing more wavy lines on the Amsler grid, it could be the cataracts that are causing it instead of the AMD. You need to see the eye doctor to confirm which one it is, but at least there is hope that your eye doctor will say that the AMD is not getting worse and that it is the cataracts.
