I have am nearsighted with mixed astigmatism and have work glasses since 3rd grade. I am legally blind without them. When I turned 60 I was outdoor gardening when I suddenly had a vitreal Detachment in my right eye. 3 months later the other one went too. Then at age 65 I suddenly had Wet AMD in one eye and the other followed 4 months later. I now get shots in both eyes but I have responded very well to the Avastin. Family history is one Aunt - my Mom's sister has it and it has progressed in her 70's.
The shots worked great, are spread apart 12 weeks, and I am in remission. In one eye the drusen cause wavy lines and that eye is the worst but somehow the human brain compensates and I don't notice it unless I think about it. The left eye seems to be fine. I caught it very quickly.
Here is the kicker. I am an artist. I paint in acrylics and have loved artistic crafts my whole life. So far all is well with colors as I can tell. My husband and I are enjoying our life of retirement and I feel like I am waiting for that one day when my eyesight will just go away. My plan is to enjoy everything until then.
Any others have problem eyes with this progression?
