It’s completely normal to feel anxious before eye surgery, but cataract and macular procedures are very common and usually go smoothly. The team will keep you comfortable, and most people only notice some mild pressure rather than pain.
Recovery typically involves using eye drops, protecting the eye, and attending follow-ups, and many patients are pleasantly surprised at how much their vision improves afterwards—try to focus on the fact that this is being done to help your sight and that you’ll be in safe hands.

I have had nothing but negative results following cataract surgery. I have wet md in my left eye and dry in my right. My eyes burn constantly following cataract surgery, I have severe dry eyes now and use eye drops several times daily. I never had dry eyes prior to surgery. I am uncomfortable all the time.My vision has been compromised due to dry eyes now. I received no help from the surgeon, his only comment was “your brain will get used to it “ and that has NOT happened. Seven long years of suffering!
