Macula and Cataract Surgery

Hello I'm waiting to have a Macular and Cataract Operation at the same time I'm feeling quite Nervous about the hole thing Can anyone give me some and advice of what happens once I get to theatre Thankyou very much

  1. Hi . I have not had either surgery, though I am due for cataract surgery in the next year or two. Hopefully, others in the community will chime in with their own experiences and put you at ease. I am super nervous as well, but everyone says you feel nothing and it's over with quickly. I hope that's true! Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thankyou so much

      1. Hi there,
It’s normal to feel nervous before macular and cataract surgery. When you arrive at the theatre, the team will apply eye drops to dilate your pupil and give you a local anaesthetic. You’ll be awake but won’t feel pain, just some light pressure. The procedure usually takes 30–60 minutes.

After surgery, you’ll rest briefly and go home the same day with instructions on using eye drops and protecting your eye. Vision may be blurry at first, but should improve over time.

If you haven’t already, a complete eye exam before surgery helps ensure everything is planned correctly. Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery!

        1. Thankyou very much for reassuring me having this done next week yes still nervous but thinking positive Thankyou
