Izervay for GA

I have just been diagnosed with dry AMD. My MD is recommending Izervay injections. Is anyone currently using Izervay? If you so, are you experiencing any problems? Do you have any other concerns that you can share? Many thanks!

  1. i had my first injection of Izervay on December 26th with a 30 day checkup this week. I had no problems with the injection or in the time since the injection. My eye was stable at my checkup with no indication of side effects. I have GA in both eyes but my doctor recommended only treating my worst eye. Do you have GA? It is the advanced form of macular degeneration. This is a good article on Izervay. https://glance.eyesoneyecare.com/stories/2023-11-04/two-year-data-reported-for-gather2-study-on-izervay/#. 1. Sharon. Thank you for your quick response. My GA is in my right eye however I have a small dormant melanoma in that eye also. I will check out your link to learn more about my condition. Education is key I believe. Also concerned about over active immune system response in GA diagnosis.

  2. your situation is more complicated than mine with the presence of the dormant melanoma. I trust you have a competent doctor to answer your questions and recommend the best treatment for you. I agree the more we educate ourselves the better off we will be. My doctor says we are a team and I get to be the captain. I try to thoroughly research my options so I can make the best decisions. Warmly, Sharon Moore patient leader

    1. Thank you Sharon for your wise counsel. I do have confidence in my Doctor and trust him to keep monitoring my medical situation. The best to you and your medical journey with GA.

      1. I am glad to hear that you have a doctor you have confidence in. I feel the same about mine. I discussed getting into a clinical trial for stem cell therapy and he did not advise it for me. Hoping you have a great weekend. Sharon Moore patient leader
