Hi . There are some supplement producers that insist on genetic testing for more individualized ARED formulas, but doctors generally don't recommend it. Right now, there is no agreement among researchers that individualized formulas are any more effective than mass-produced AREDs. Here is a study that explores teh effectiveness of specific formulations compared to those you can buy without genetic testing. That article focused on genetic testing for prognostic risk- not for testing prior to using eye vitamins. Seddon's own work shows that it is quite important (Seddon, BJO, 2016)
