Insurances that cover injections

Does anyone have advice about insurance coverage of injections? Some say stay on regular medicare parts A and B and others tell me to keep my advantage plan. Any advice would be helpful.

  1. Hi . I hope you get some good input on this question. Does your county's Office of the Aging have a Medicare specialist who can help? You might also try asking the people in your eye doctor's billing office. They should be pretty familiar with the plans that offer coverage. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Through all my illnesses I've found my original Medicare the best coverage.
I have not explored advantage plans much because I hear so many tales of pre approval denied treatments and plans being discontinued and that it's scary. I usually have a co-pay for each of my injections around 40.00 with my part B Medicare. And lots of the injection manufacturers have assistance programs based on income.
I wish you the best in your AMD journey
    Mary

  3. I've only had one injection, and my Anthem Hmo-Pos covered it.

  4. I want to strongly support Community Admin Lori Foster's suggestion that you look into the free Medicare counseling that's available thru your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (every state has a SHIP). SHIP offers expert unbiased Medicare counseling thru local area agencies on aging or other community-based partners. SHIP counselors are highly-trained volunteers who will help you to understand the pros and cons of each option available to you. They can also alert you to issues related to the times of the year when you can or can't make a switch and how to avoid any penalties (e.g., if you go back to original Medicare, you need to choose a Part D prescription plan within 63 days; also, you have 60 days where you can choose a supplement or Medi-gap plan if you want and can afford one). Hope this helps.
