Injection Malfunction

I have dry MD on both eyes. I’ve been getting Izervay since last year. Last week I changed doctors within the same Retina Center as the first one showed no desire to answer questions. The Doctor injected me with Izervay “samples” as for some reason they hadn’t received insurance approval. Previously Doctor injected in the upper outer side of the eye. New Doctor chose to inject on the lower part of the eye. I had immediate bleeding in my left eye. They told me Doc hit a blood vessel and it looked worse than it was. I almost threw up. Doc took eye pressure; My eye hurt, felt like sand in it. I was told to apply regular eye drops to lubricate. When I got home I realized it looked bad, at least in my opinion. The next day my looked grayish blue. On Day 2 I called clinic and I talked to personnel. Doctor was not in; I sent them photos so they could forward to Doctor for his assessment. I was told not to worry, to just put drops in. It will take 2-3 weeks for redness to dissipate. My eye doesn’t hurt much, grittiness continues, vision is OK. I don’t understand how this injection could be so different from previous experiences where I had minimal post discomfort that resolved itself by next day. I would appreciate input from anyone having had the same experience. I’m really concerned. My next injections are scheduled in 7 weeks. Thank you so much.Day 6 post injection

  1. Hi . I can see why you are nervous. That looks pretty scary. Have you considered getting another opinion? I know you just switched doctors and that seeing yet another might feel overwhelming, but you need and deserve the best possible care. - Lori (Team Member)
