My AMD Journey

I was diagnosed with wet AMD about 3 years ago and started injections in my right eye the same day.

My treatment schedule

Initially I had injections every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the results of my eye scans. After about 18 months I decided to start taking a supplement and selected Macusave which I am still using.

I had an injection due 27th December 2024 but had to cancel it as I had injured my spine.

Stretching my treatment schedule

I attended a new appointment at the end of January 2025. When I saw the ophthalmologist he told me that it was 9 weeks since my last injection and my eye was dry. My next appointment was in 10 weeks, then 12 weeks, then 14 weeks, then 15 weeks, all where the scans had shown that my eye is dry.

Will I be able to stop injections?

So my next appointment is in 16 weeks and they will possibly decide to stop the injections but monitor my eyes. This seems like good news to me and I hope my results stay stable.

I shall continue to take Macusave as I can't be sure if they have helped and at a cost of pennies a day it's worth it.

I have to say what a really lovely bunch of people they are at my eye care clinic. I can't thank them enough for both the treatment and their kindness.
