Dry AMD

I have been treated with wet AMD for 4 years now. I get an injection every six weeks in my left eye and one every 12 weeks in my right eye. I know I have dry eye but since I am being treated for wet eye age AMD no one mentions the dry eye any more. So what is happening with the dry eye AMD problem?

Up until just recently, there has been no treatment for dry macular degeneration, so perhaps your doctor doesn't see the point in mentioning it continually, especially when they are dealing with the treatment of your wet macular degeneration. As you have probably read, there are now two injectable medications to treat the advanced form of dry amd, Syfovre and Izervay. It would be worth asking your doctor if your dry amd is at the advanced stage, and whether they think either of these medications would be suuitable to you. My RS said people can have injections for dry and wet amd if they are suitable candidates. Shame they haven't developed something other than another injection! Let us know how you go. Thank you for your comments. The doctors that are practicing where I am being treated are very dedicated to their work. I believe that if injections would benefit me my doctor would suggest them. My vision is good. I drtve and conduct my life with ease. I read and if I did not tell any one they would not know. Also I am going to be 91 years old December 19. Maybe he feels that due to my age lets wait and see. Probably I am saying all this because the last thing i want is more injections. Also I get help to pay for the injections I receive now. I don't know if there is a way to have someone to take on the additional financial burden. Thank you for your kind help. Edie Laude

 <inline-mention username="edielaude" user-id="3117642"/> it sounds as though you wouldn't need the treatment for advanced dry amd as you still see clearly enough to function well each day. It's only for advanced cases of the dry form. Still, it's good to know the treatment exists. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.
