Diagnosed With MMD as a 48-Year-Old
Nineteen years ago, I lost my central vision due to bleeding in the centers of my retinas of both eyes.
My MMD diagnosis
I was diagnosed with myopic macular degeneration (MMD) due to being severely nearsighted. Laser treatment could not be done because it could cause a scar, so we had to let nature take its course.
No recurrences so far
Eventually, the darkened area in my central vision lightened, and so far I have not had any recurrences. About that time, I also started taking eye vitamins, and I think they have helped.
