Dealing With AMD and Hearing Loss

The last story I read here was sad. She said that she just didn't want to take more of the doctor's time. That is how I am feeling this morning after having an appointment with an ENT for my hearing problems.

Trying to save my vision and my hearing

I am 93 and not only have vision problems. I am otherwise very healthy. I will do anything to save what eyesight I have left because of AMD.

The ENT was doing everything to help my hearing, but did not want to hear of what I cannot take, as I am trying to protect my vision.

Staying informed

I keep well-informed on drugs that may worsen AMD; drugs that doctors do not hesitate to prescribe for the condition they are treating.

I did not, and could not take any more of this ENT's time. He prescribed drugs for me, and I came home and went online to see if they can be harmful for AMD.

My vision is more important

My vision is more important to me than my hearing, so I will not take the drugs. I didn't feel I could take any more of this ENT's time. I cancelled my next appointment with the ENT. I will put up with the pain and loss of hearing to keep what vision I have left from AMD.
