Every visit to my retina specialist begins with Am I still legal to drive? I will not hurt someone else because of my eyes!!

Last year in May I went to the optometrist for an eye exam to get my license renewed. I passed it just fine. The doctor signed the paper and I went and got my license. I'm not restricted to wear glasses driving as of now. I just have to wear glasses to read small print.

Hiya All, I have wet AMD in my right eye. My left eye is full of scar tissue. I am now 77. I am in San Diego, CA. I had to take the eye test AND behind the wheel driving test 2 years ago. Barely passed with 17 mistakes (they allow 20). The test lady was an ice queen...she scared the beejeebies out of me the minute she got in my car. I was thankful I passed. She gave me one year. I just took the test behind the wheel two weeks ago and passed with flying colors...no booboos. Tester lady was very nice, answered my questions. She gave me a two year license....so I am good till age 79. Yippeeeey! If my eyes get worse...I know I will do the right thing and stop driving. I would like to add...Get some yellow lens glasses. They are great in the day to cut the bright sun glare and great at night for headlights blaring at you. I wish you all the very best as you travel this new EYE WALK in your life. Big Blessings. Marcy
