I was stunned

Needless to say, I was stunned. I was sent to a retinal clinic for more testing.

The problem was explained to me and the doctor discussed my options. I had a shot the same day — despite my fear of things sticking into my eyeball, it was painless and mercifully quick.

I'm still dealing with the consequences of macular degeneration: so many questions about the future and so many decisions to make. How to deal with my physical disability and my fear of blindness.

Is it time for assisted living, how can I stay in my home? What happens when I can't drive anymore? Lots to think about.
