Medication for AMD

I was diagnosed with dry AMD in 2020. About 2 years ago my eyes had progressed to wet AMD in the left eye and geographic atrophy in the right eye. Changes in vision were very slow, so some things were not noticeable.

Deciding to stop driving

I scraped up my car a few times due to my depth perception being off, and when I ran a second red light because I did not see it until I was right under it, I decided I was no longer able to drive safely and I gave my car to my grandson.

Injection treatments

Now, I get Vabysmo in my left eye and Syfovre in the right every 6 weeks. I've been getting these medications for about 2 years and my eyes have remained "stable."

Transportation and other adaptations

I use the local transit authority special needs program for transportation and I do a lot of walking. I haven't reached a point where I need extra assistance or appliances to get through daily life.

I'm very pleased that the disease has apparently been stifled by the regular shots. The medications have been my saving grace.
