4 Years of Injections
I really enjoy this website, though I am a British in the UK. I have dry AMD in one eye and wet in the other eye.
My first AMD symptoms and injections
My initial symptom was a grey ‘blob’ in my central vision by day, and a yellow ‘blob’ in the dark.
Injections aren't as bad as they sound
I began having injections every 4 weeks, followed by a scan after 5 weeks — Lucentis, later followed by Avastin and Eylea, reverting back to Lucentis. They didn’t seem to have any effect. So many injections that I became quite blasé about them and would reassure people that they really aren’t as bad as they sound.
An improvement in my vision
My condition didn’t stabilise, but last year I had to postpone my injections until I was aware that my vision was deteriorating. I then arranged an injection privately; it was Vabysmo. I was told that it allows longer intervals between each one.
After my second one I was delighted in the sudden improvement in my vision. After the 2nd one I was told it had become dry! But my last scan 3 weeks ago showed that some fluid has formed again, and I had a 3rd injection.
Side effects are temporary
The aftereffects with all my injections have been varied, from black spots and black-sequin like blobs to blurriness, etc. But they never last longer than 24 hours. I no longer see wavy vertical lines nor the blob-like shadow in my central vision.
Supplements and nutrition for eye health
Overall, I am happy with my vision so far. I know the damage can’t be repaired, but I am anxious that the dry eye doesn’t become wet; therefore, I take daily supplements like MacuShield Gold and eat blueberries every day and kale frequently for its lutein.
Sorry to have rambled on. Thank you for your excellent website and information.
