When to stop driving???

Hi, I have Intermediate AMD. I was in a left turn lane, but when it came to turning left, I couldn’t tell the distance of the cars coming towards me to safely turn. I ended up with my car partially in the intersection when the light turned red. One of the drivers who had to go around me shook her head at me. I was scared and embarrassed.

    1. It happens to a lot of us. I would say before you give up on driving completely to get a fresh eye exam. Explain the situation to your eye doctor and ask for professional opinions.
I am 77 I have had dry eyes for over 40 years and at times it makes my vision an issue. I also was told 17 years ago that I had macular degeneration. I now understand that it is dry macular degeneration. I haven't noticed any issues with my vision other that needing frequent updates to my prescription glasses. I take UpNoursh ARED2 plus and Sight Care supplements. I also use Refresh Tears eye drops. Refresh gel for dry eyes and at night eye ointment at bed time. All of that together has kept my vision in as good a shape as possible. I don't have any floaters, blurriness, fogginess. I get my eyes examined every 6 months. And normally need new glasses at least yearly. As long as I wear sunglasses outdoors and tined glasses in rooms with extremely bright lights am am okay. I am an outdoor person that hikes, walks, and camps.

      1. Thanks Chuck. Just went in to my eye Dr. Apparently it’s my Intermediate AMD that’s causing my depth perception problems. I’m using eye drops, etc, but I guess this is how my eyesight is progressing with AMD. I’m going to make a new game-plan for myself.
