Correlation Between Painkillers & AMD?

I am a healthy and active 73 year old woman. I don't smoke or drink and never have. I was diagnosed with the early stages of dry macular degeneration about two years ago in both eyes.

Due to a shoulder injury a couple of weeks ago, my nurse practitioner prescribed 2400mg of ibuprofen for the pain. After 3 days of this high dosage, I started seeing a blinking circular light and a few hours later I could barely see out of my left eye. I could not see colors on the leaves, or make out details. Just a big shadow. My right eye was fine.

I went to my ophthalmologist and she immediately sent me to the retina specialist in town and I now have wet AMD in my left eye. The right eye still has dry AMD. I had my first injection (which luckily did not hurt at all) 5 days ago. I have read that too much of any NSAIDs drugs can affect vision, but my doctor does not think so and the retina specialist said there's direct no cause and effect, maybe contributed somehow? Once I stopped the ibuprofen my left eye could see better.

I have two questions:

1) Does anyone in this group seen any connection with taking NSAIDs and eye problems?

2) Is it a good idea to take Eye Protector (has astaxanthin, bilberry, and saffron from plants) in addition to Preservision Areds 2?

Needless to say, I don't know what my life would be like if I lose my vision. If my right eye goes from dry to wet, I know I won't be able to drive, work, or read. I'm still helping to support my daughter and my grandson in college. So I'm very scared. Thank your reading.
