Tips: Hobbies, Share a Photo!

Bump dots, bright lighting, enlarged text for recipes. What are some things that you've done around the house to make things easier for yourself with AMD? How are you still able to enjoy the things you love to do?

Please feel free to SHARE A PHOTO of your favorite hobby if you'd like!

  1. one of my favorite hobbies is sewing. Having AMD has made that hobby much harder. I try to only sew on bright sunshiny days. My sewing machine sits in front of a window. An Led light strip adds extra lighting along with a goose neck lamp. Sharon Moore advocate

    1. I can imagine that seeing those small stitches can be a challenge, for sure! I'm really glad to hear that you've found the proper light to help you continue to do what you love. Would love to see any photos of something that you've sewn recently! Sending my best, Abby (Moderator).

  2. this is a quilted casserole carrier I made. Casserole carrier

    1. How beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing 😀 you're inspiring me to give sewing a try! All my best, Abby (team member).

  3. I am a sewer, mainly quilts lately. Yes is has been a bit more of a challenge with AMD. My hubs installed led track lighting over the cutting table, what a help that is, reading the rulers and seeing contrast in fabrics and other fine details. More lighting on sewing machine helps me see stitches and thread needles. More light in general has helped. I use colored tapes to mark rulers when I am cutting strips, for instance at the 2.5" line when needing many strips. I use contrasting colors on sewing tools when appropriate. While some things I have set in place not needed so much now maybe needed later. I so appreciate everyone's tips. I may not need them all now, just planning ahead for myself and others

    1. as a sewer, you may have heard of hook and loop dots or tape. They are sticky on one side and rough on the other. They can be cut to fit and stick anywhere and the rough side is a great tactile marker for microwave, washing machine, TV remotes etc. They come in a few colors, are very cheap and are also removable. Best wishes, Wendy, Advocate.

  4. Painting, drawing, sketching, color, love it all. Extra lights all over makes this possible.
