Any support group meeting on zoom, webex, or over the phone?

Dear all, my wife (36 years old) was just diagnosed with myopic degeneration with choroidal neovascularization last weekend and received her 1st injection.

We were wondering if there is any support group meeting on zoom, webex, or over the phone to learn about available resources and how to cope with this condition. Myopic degeneration with choroidal neovascularization is similar with wet age-related macular degeneration. Thanks a lot!

  1. I'm sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis. I'm attaching a link to an article written by our team about myopic macular degeneration. https://maculardegeneration.net/myopic/ Quite a few of our community suffer from this form of the disease, so don't hesitate to ask questions here or on our Facebook page MacularDegeneration.net Many of our members have injections, also, so I'm attaching a link about the anti-VEGF injections. https://maculardegeneration.net/eye-injections/ Best wishes to you and your wife. 1. Hello and welcome! I am 55 and diagnosed with Myopic Macular Degeneration in May. Yesterday I unfortunately was diagnosed with neovascularization and received my first shot. I am struggling with wrapping my head around this right now, as I am sure you and your wife are also. Few people who don't have personal experience with it understand. I've been talking to everyone I know about what I'm going through to help them understand this condition that does not just affect older people. OK hang in there...these forums have been incredibly helpful to me over the past few months...keep talking to your friends and family and supports also. "Never Suffer Alone" is a quote I live by. This is from a PhD Psychologist who lost his vision in an accident. I will find the reference and post it here. Take care and stay in touch with updates please. We receive help by helping others.

        1. I am glad the forums have been helpful to you. Until I developed macular degeneration and joined this community I didn't know about Myopic macular degeneration. Thanks for sharing your story and being so encouraging to others. Your quote to "never suffer alone" is spot on. This community always listens and provides support. Sharon Moore Advocate
