When will I know if surgery is absolutely necessary?

I use Sodium Chloride drops twice a day. I also have mild cataracts, a split in the right optic, the gel behind the right eye ruptured which causes a film over the eye. When will I know surgery is absolutely necessary. I'm very paranoid about having any type of eye surgery.

  1. Hi , thanks so much for reaching out to the community. Eye surgery is a nerve-wracking idea for many in our community, and you are certainly not alone in feeling this way. Are you considering cataract surgery? And do you also have macular degeneration? If so, here's an article that goes into more details about having cataract surgery with macular degeneration: https://maculardegeneration.net/clinical/cataract-surgery/

I hope others will also weigh in and share any thoughts or personal experiences with you, but keep in mind that everyone is different and can react very differently to treatment. It's best to work closely with your doctor to determine the best options for you.

We'll be thinking of you and hope you'll continue to keep us posted on your decision and how you're doing.
