Myopic MD

We as a group are in the minority of other macular degeneration people- I was always very nearsighted…. Today my vision is WAVY in one eye and to read a book, I must use a liner to keep the lines straight. I no longer see faces clearly! It’s awful. Does anyone else live with this myopia issue? I feel alone but know it’s not possible. Audrey

  1. We do have others in the community with myopic macular degeneration. Here is a link to our forum on it https://maculardegeneration.net/forums/myopic-macular-degeneration-discussion-board. If you type myopia in the search bar you can find articles written by other with this condition. Do you get any treatment for it? Warmly, Sharon Moore patient leader

    1. Yes I have Myopic Macular. Fortunately the treatment for AMD wet works so far for me - eye injections. Mine is getting worse and it’s really difficult to read using both eyes because of the wavy lines. Using large fonts helps but I fear reading will get more difficult as time goes on. If I venture to drive at night, which is very rare now, I use yellow lens glasses but now I see two sets of headlights with the yellows so I will probably give up night driving completely. My double vision has, however, lessened overall except for night driving.

      1. I love to read so I understand the challenge with wavy distorted text. When I reach the point I need it the accessibility features of my IPad will be helpful. Right now I just increase the font size and reverse the background color. When necessary. The screen reader will come in handy. If you read for pleasure, have you considered audiobooks?
