Laser surgery for wet macular degeneration

A community member is wondering if anyone has had laser surgery for their wet macular degeneration. What type of laser did you have and do you think it was successful? Did you have any unwanted side-effects? Wendy, Patient Leader.

  1. Gee, I did not know about laser surgery for MD. I have found that we not only have to find ways to manage and cope with MN. Sometimes (okay, most times) I feel like "Humpty Dumpty" - NO putting together again. I do try to smile and laugh alot. Does it help, I don't know - but I know I am trying.😀

    1. I don't know much about laser surgery for macular degeneration either. It does exist, but I think it is only suitable for some people under certain conditions. A community member's doctor is wanting her to have it. You made me smile with your sense of humor. I hope it helps you too. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

  2. I think you must talk about the concern with the Laser eye surgery (https://www.avantlasikspa.com/Lasik-Eye-Surgery) department. For those with wet AMD who aren't responding to anti-VEGF pharmaceutical treatment or have high-risk characteristics, laser surgery is a treatment option. To stop aberrant blood vessels from leaking, these techniques seal them off or eliminate them. This can lessen the signs of wet AMD and slow vision loss.

    1. thanks for sharing your knowledge of the use of laser treatment for wet macular degeneration. Have you had this treatment? Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader
