Does anyone follow eye healthy diets?

What's been your experience following eye-healthy diets? Are there fruits and vegetables that you enjoy more than others? Do you eat more protein, lutein, or zeaxanthin than before?

Share your thoughts and what has or hasn't worked for you below.

  1. I'm new, as of yesterday, actually. I had my first injection of Eylea at my first appointment yesterday.

My retina specialist Duke Ophthalmologist told me to buy a supplement called PreserVision AREDS2 Formula.

I was JUST diagnosed with Dry MD in my left eye (didn't even know) and Wet MD in my right eye (I knew something was wrong).

I'm really freaked out and would love to have support right now. I keep thinking my right eye is blurry because I have 'moisture' in it, so I keep blinking, but of course it doesn't get better.

    1. I can SO identify with your story. I was diagnosed 2 months ago with dry in both eyes. Suddenly my left turned wet and I got the shot on the day I was diagnosed. I agree with Wendy that you, as I were lucky that we had no time to think about it. I understand how upsetting this diagnosis is. I was convinced that I was going to wake up blind any day. It’s ok. Feel your feelings. I am very glad I found this website. Read all you can and talk to your friends and family. Prayer has helped me a lot. I’m due for my second shot next week. I’m getting nervous. I have to accept that this is just what I have to do to keep my vision. Try not to let your mind go to the dark places. It’s too easy to get dragged down that rabbit hole. I take the AREDS2 vitamins twice a day. Good luck to you. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

    2. thank you for sharing your story and encouraging other community members. It sounds like you are in the right track taking your AREDS2 vitamins and eating healthy. I hope that next injection goes well for you. Best wishes, Sharon Moore Advocate

  2. I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I'm glad that you've found this community. You've passed your first big hurdle by having your first injection. At least you didn't have too much time to worry about the shot, having it on the same day. How did it go and when do you have to go back? Wendy - Advocate.

      1. I already eat quite a lot of fruit and vegetables, but I now also try to buy more yellow vegetables. Unfortunately the yellow ones are often more expensive in Australia, especially yellow capsicums/peppers and baby squash. Thankfully corn is readily available and not too costly. Wendy - Advocate.

        1. Thanks for your response about the amount of zinc in some eye vitamins! What is the name and website of the specific eye vitamins you mentioned in your reply? I would be interested in checking it out! Thanks Linda Hoopes, Advocate
