Update -- injection for wet amd-right eye

5th injection - Jan 20 - doc says sees improvement. I guess Eyelea works for me - for those who have this dreadful disease, while we may not cure it - we can control it. My retina is very damaged and while I may not gain full use of it, it is better. I can tell.
My left eye - dry AMD - maintains good health...Hooray!!
Best of luck to all for improved vision -- and maybe someday - total cure!!

  1. thank you for the update. Good news, great to hear! I'm pleased for you. I had my injection on the 21st. Same result as you. He's got me at another 8 weeks interval. How long until your next shot? Wendy, Patient Leader.

    1. Thank you for good wishes. Lucky girl - 8 week interval. I am at 6 but it's ok. I suspect after the next (6th) injection I will go to at least 7 week interval.

This time eyes were dilated - took forever (6 hours) for the fuzziness to go away. He says need to dilate every 6 months. Happy for that duration.

Glad you received good news about your eye situation. 😀

      1. thanks for your good wishes. I am happy about the 8 weeks. Funny thing is, he said to me would you like to go another 8 weeks? I said: as opposed to what? Going back to 6 weeks or going forward to 10 weeks? He had me confused. If everything was OK with the scan, why the question? My visual accuity had decreased in the wet eye, although the OCT was the same, but that could be from the cataracts. Maybe that was why he asked me. Anyway, I said another 10 weeks thanks. I have my eyes dilated every time, both eyes, without fail, but it doesn't cause me much trouble afterwards. I'm thinking he uses less-strong dilation drops, if there is any such thing! Oh well, over now for another 8 weeks unless something changes on the Amsler Grid. Warm wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

    2. So -- dilation EVERY time. Boy - these protocols are all over the place - as I said, every 6 months for me - He must have used a strong solution - very uncomfortable for at least 6 hours. Over the years, for many different eye issues, I have had that process and it never affected me so much.

Good luck going forward and enjoy your 8 week interval!!!

      1. I think his dilation drops must be different from those used on me over the past years by the optometrist. I couldn't walk outside without my sunglasses then, and even so it was very uncomfortable. I don't experience this with the drops he uses. I do put my wraparound sunnies on as soon as I exit the building, but the glare just isn't as bad. Maybe he needs to have a good look each time, especially with my cataracts. I believe they obstruct the view of the retina to some extent. Wendy, Patient Leader.

    3. I’m so thankful that I no longer have cataracts. I’ll bet that’s why he has to dilate. An ophthalmologist once told me he couldn’t see my retina because of my cataracts.

      1. yes, I think you're right. My RS's assistant doctor told me it is a bit more difficult to see the retina when a person has cataracts. Mine will be gone someday, but he doesn't want to do them just yet. Wendy, Patient Leader.
