Anyone had their injection medication changed?

Has anyone had their eye injection medication changed from one drug to another? Why did the doctor make the change? Did the new drug work better or worse? Wendy, Advocate.

  1. Yes. From time to time I insist that we try and alternate between Eylea and Lucentsi, when it seems one or the other stops working. Doe it make a difference? Not really sure. But the doctor goes along with my suggestions. Beovue did not help after 3 shots.

    1. thanks for sharing your experience alternation medications. I have to do the same thing with allergy meds when one quits working. Best wishes, Sharon Moore Advocate

  2. Have you tried Avastin? I’ve been on shots, somewhat irregularly, with three doctors in three cities. They each have put Avastin at the top of the list.

    1. . I know. I have even asked my current doctor if there were others that were as effective or more so and he’s always said, This one works for you. I don’t see any reason to change. At least until it stops working. He’s got a point, I guess!

    2. yes, when you're on a good thing, stick to it, as they say! Wendy, Moderator.

  3. Yes, started with Avastin but after no improvement was switched to Elyea. Instant improvement and have gone from monthly injections to 2 to 3 months.

    1. that is so wonderful to read!

  4. i am glad you found a medication that is working better for you. It is great to be able to extend the time between injections. Best wishes, Sharon Moore Advocate
