AMD (wet) - Round One

I recently learned of this eye disease - which I now have. I have had one injection -- not bad. I guess the problem I have with this particular disease, is -- it is for life.
I went for many years in a stable situation.... "drusen" and "atypical" and many non-serious sounding diagnoses for the eye now being injected. So I was really surprised to hear "wet" at my 1st RS visit.
I am being treated with Eyelea - I see there is an Eyelea HD treatment. Does anyone know anything about this? I see that it is longer lasting so possibly fewer injections. I will confirm information with doc but that is 3 weeks away.

Thanks for any thoughts.

  1. I am glad your first injection went well. I did not find any prescribing restrictions on the Eyelea website. It makes sense to me to get fewer injections and would lessen the risk of infection. This is my personal opinion. I am sure your doctor can answer any questions at your appointment. How is your vision in the wet eye? Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader

    1. Thanks for the infection info. You know, I did not give an infection a second thought and I don't believe it was mentioned at the visit. Or I don't remember.
I appreciate the routine to avoid it, that you posted. I will keep it in mind.
I am thinking of getting some eye drops - my eye doesn't bother me too much but there is a small bit of irritation each morning. Visine has one for lubricating the eye - "hydrating comfort" it offers. My optometrist doesn't like Visine products but the one she mentioned is twice the price.

      Thanks for your input.

    2. infections are not that common but I don’t want to risk it. Even eye drops can cause infection so I don’t skimp on my eye drops. I buy Systane and get them at Sam’s Cub. Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader
