zi am 92 years and last week I went for my injection with Eyelea in my left eye

As soon as I got there I was told that the charitable company who was paying for my co-payment $330.30 no longer would pay because they ran out of money. I called my insurance company United healthcare and they told me that they help (90) diseases but NOT eyes, ears or teeth. So now my doctor told me he could inject me with Avastin which is cheaper but not FDA approved. This was originally used as a cancer drug. They have had a lot of poblems. He said that I was doing well with Eyelea and he also suggested a cheaper (not that cheap) Lucentis. I am looking for a charity company who would pay for my copay. My cap is 2400.00 dollars so as soon as the 2400.00 is paid the rest is free. I have not slept since I was told. Monday I am going to continue to try and find someone. Please help

  1. What a difficult situation, . No wonder you can't sleep. Have you tried the PAN Foundation? Here is a link: https://www.panfoundation.org/. If they can't help you, maybe they can direct you to an organization that can. Gentle hugs. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thank you. I called one morning from 8:00 to 12:00 all the numbers I was given.Including Good Days (the ones who were out of money). They are still there just ran out of funds for Eyelea. However they informed me that since I am approved I am on a waiting list and when they will get funded they will notify my doctor. This gave me hope. I am on a waiting list with Heathwell and PAN. That is all I am going to do for now. It is too exhausting.
For now I am using my credit card. Again thank you for your reply

  2. Hi edielaude, on the Eylea website they have information for getting help with paying for Eylea. I hope that this helps.

    1. I have learned a lot with all this calling when trying to get help for my copay. There is not much real help out there. They mainly help people who have no insurance and are quite destitute. That part I qualify. Also my insurance does not help with such things as macular degeneration. They told me that they help 90 different
ailments but not macular degeneration. Just so you know!!..Thanks for your kind words!

  3. I’ve been getting the Avastin shot for about 6 years - first one eye then both. It worked very well for me and insurance pays for most of it.

    1. I have the same problem, I become izervay injection in both eyes, but I can’t pay the $830 co payment. Good days paying last year, but this year the have no funds. Now I hope my eyes come worse. I can barely read or watch TV.
