What can I expect from injections?

One of my eyes developed wet AMD about 4 months ago. I have received 3 injections so far and haven't noticed any improvement. When I ask if my vision will improve I never get an answer. To those that have been getting injections I would like to know what your experiences have been.

Thank you

  1. I have read community members' comments on this site for a few years now, and they mention results all along the spectrum. Some people see an improvement in their vision; sometimes a big improvement. Others see a small improvement. Some see no improvement at all. The main object of the shots evidently is to hold the sight steady. I think the variations in results can come from a number of factors such as: how early the treatment was started, what medication is used, whether scar tissue develops. Sometimes results are achieved quickly and for others it takes a long time. The medication in the injection is sometimes changed if it isn't working. I'm not a medical person - these are the comments I've read from our community which might help you. Warm wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

    1. Thank you

      1. I hope you turn out to be one of those who do see some improvement. Please let us know how you go down the track. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

    2. MD seems to be a very personal disease. It can anddoes affect each of us differently. I hope you will see improvement. I'm happy with "stable" meaning no better but no worse. I'll take that. Beverly Dame, Advocate

      1. As an ophthalmologist currently being treated for wet md, I can tell you that early recognition is the key to successful treatment. MD is a binocular condition. watch your sound eye "like a hawk" Look at your amsler grid every day. You might consider a device called "forsee". which will help you track changes. Unless caught early, treatment may control progression but not reverse even early changes. If your affected eye starts to worsen, discuss a change of antiveg f agents. There are several available. aronianmd

        1. your experience as a patient and an ophthalmologist is valuable to the community. I tried the Foresee home monitor but I was told I wasn’t a good candidate. I was disappointed but I do use my Amsler grid often. I have early stage GA. My retinal specialist and I will discuss the latest medication approved by the FDA next appointment.
