Polyunsaturated vegetable oils and AMD

I'm no expert, but would suggest that it would cost you NOTHING to watch one or two youtubes of Dr. Chris Knobbe and find out why perhaps you should eliminate polyunsaturated vegetable oils from your diet--especially if they've been heated. as is true in virtually all snack food and virtually all food fried in restaurants, especially fast food. He's not peddling his books or expensive supplements, just presenting longitudinal population studies. If he's correct that AMD was unknown 150 years ago, but has been increasing ever since, then we have to look for what else was unknown 150 years ago and has been increasing ever since to see if there might be a correlation that is actually a causation.

  1. thank you for this very interesting comment. One of the first things my previous retina specialist said to me was stay away from vegetable oils, not that I used much anyway. I swapped out my Canola oil and sunflower oil for cold-pressed, extra virgin olive oil. Even then, I use very little. Most things can be cooked with a little water in the pan instead of oil. Your comment does make sense to me, but I doubt they knew what macular degeneration was 150 years ago, nor had the ability to detect it. Still, that doesn't negate the theory. I often think about the vegetable oil when I'm at my favourite Thai food restaurant. They have rows of bottles out the back 🙁 Wendy, Patient Leader.
