Overwhelmed but it's getting better.

I am excited and comforted by the opportunity to communicate here. After almost a 2 year journey I finally got surgery. My vision was so bad I couldn't judge the depth of curbs or stairs. I fell a couple times and couldn't go out alone and never at night as the glare of lights was uncomfortable. I couldn't afford surgery and I didn't have health insurance. I called so many places for financial help but got turned down. I did find financial help eventually but by then I needed three operations because my eyes were so bad I couldn't go anywhere alone. I am still healing. I think there might be more people like me who can't afford surgery and don't have insurance. My suituation was complicated by other circumstances as well. Help is out there...but I almost gave up.
