New injection complication

I was diagnosed with dry amd five years ago! I was given new injections in both eyes in May. I spend part time in Florida and Summers in Minnesota. By time I arrived in mn I knew something was wrong. I went to retina Dr here and have been treating infection from the shots for three months. I’m very discouraged. Please be careful before rushing into getting this new treatment!

  1. I am really sorry to hear this. I can appreciate that you feel very discouraged. It must be so disappointing. Thank you for sharing this with our Community. How are you going with the treatment for the infection? Were both eyes infected? Are they improving? We send you our best wishes for healing. Wendy, Patient Leader.

    1. i appreciate you sharing your experience with the new treatment for dry AMD. My doctor advised me not to get Syfovre because of the high risk for complications. He said another one was coming soon. It has received FDA approval and should be available soon. Perhaps you will be a candidate for it once your infection clears. I hope the infection doesn’t have a long term impact on your eyes. Warmly, Sharon Moore patient leader

      1. My Dr said same thing about Syfovre. What is the name of the new one in the pipeline? Is it for geographic dry AMD?

        1. yes the new medication, Izervay, is for geographic atrophy. Here is a link so you can more about it. https://www.astellas.com/en/news/28281
I am very hopeful that this option may help me. Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader
