Iron supplements and AMD

I take 65 mg of Ferrous sulfate daily for a blood condition and I also have dry eye AMD. I cont know if the iron makes my AMD worse or not. Has anyone been taking iron and has AMD ; stopped taking the iron and saw their condition improve? In other words is it reversible?

  1. that's an interesting question. I think it's a good idea to consider the medications and supplements we take, and their possible interaction with macular degeneration. I don't think anyone in our community has mentioned ferrous sulphate before. Have you mentioned this to your doctor? Dry macular degeneration is generally considered to be an irreversible disease, at least with the treatments we have at the moment. Wendy, Patient Leader.
