Hydration for dry eyes also

Has anyone heard of treating dry eyes with ozinated saline solution?

  1. I'm wondering if you mean dry macular degeneration or dry eyes. They are two different conditions, so just trying to understand your question properly. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

    1. Wendy thanks for your interest. I am referring to dry eye only. I have glaucoma in both eyes and have been dropping medication in them for 20 years now. I was also last year diagnosed with Macular degeneration in my left eye.. early stages. and my eyes on a scale of 1-10... I am a 2!!! I think that if I could hydrate my eyes the blurriness could lessen... and it was recommended to me that I should try getting a small ozinator machine and put sterile saline solution (in the proper amount) and ozinate the water... that this is a terrific way to moisturize the eyes.... so I am putting it out there if anyone else has any experience with this or ever heard of this treatment for dry eye before. I am investigating!

      1. thank you for elaborating. Now I completely understand your question. So many of us with macular degeneration also seem to have dry eyes. I certainly do! Having glaucoma also adds another level of difficulty for you! If someone has used the method you describe, I hope they'll comment here. I will read up on it, but I'm wondering how does the water get into your eyes? Do you decant it into some form of dropper or dispenser? Wendy, Patient Leader.

    2. wendy, yes once the saline (must be sterile and only a certain amount) water is ozinated, it is transferred into a small bottle with an eye dropper. apparently, the ozone effect does not last long so it must be ozinated again thru out the day. the machine is not that expensive and I am assuming that the saline solution is not that expensive either... NO ONE SHOULD PUT JUST OZINATED WATER INTO THEIR EYES... THE SALINE SOLUTION MUST BE PART of this process!

      1. now I understand! Thanks for explaining. I haven't heard anyone mention that here, but it doesn't hurt to ask. You might also like to put the question to our Community on ChronicDryEye.net. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.
