Eye Vitamins

Has anyone used Areds 2 or Vision Alive Max and found that they actually help.

  1. the areds2 eye vitamins went through clinical trials and have a good track record to slow progression for some people. I am not aware of trials for vision alive max.

    1. my eye specialist recommended, insisted really, that I take vitamins conforming to the ingredients in the AREDS2 studies. I have had dry macular degeneration for over 8 years now. I am at the intermediate stage, but my sight is still good. I really think they have helped me, but there is no exact way of knowing how my sight would have fared without them. As Sharon said, they are the only formulation that has been clinically trialled and have shown to be effective for some people. Wendy, Patient Leader.

      1. I was diagnosed 13 years ago, my specialist insisted I take AREDS2 I have taken it every day, I don't know if it has kept it at bay, but I haven't had a shot for 5 years. I won't stop taking it just because it makes me feel like I am helping my eyes and one is even showing improvement. I haven't made any other changes in my life experience, so do they work? I don't know, but I feel better taking them.

        1. I'm like you. I've taken them every day for about eight years and my dry amd has progressed very slowly. I don't know for sure what would have happened if hadn't taken them, but I think they have helped. It's good to hear you haven't needed a shot for five years. For how long did you have the shots? Wendy, Patient Leader.

      2. Six years, every now and then

        1. I'm glad that you have mentioned this because it lets people know that sometimes it's possible to have a very long break in the shots. Not for everyone, but it can happen, even after a number of years. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.
