Everyday Life

What things and tasks in your everyday life have been affected by macular degeneration? Do you have any tips for someone who is trying to find their "new norm"?

  1. when my mother was having trouble with tasks around the house we used bump dots or adhesive Velcro circles a lot. We put one on the minute button on the microwave. She knew how many minutes it took to heat a plate of food or a cup of coffee. We used them on the washing machine as well, so she could find the right setting. We actually kept everything to the same general setting on the washing machine so there were no changes needed. It was a medium, warm load or nothing at all! Wendy, Advocate.

    1. This is such a great tip, thank you for sharing! I am hopeful that others in our community will find this helpful 😀. All my best, Abby (MacularDegeneraiton.net Team Member).
