  1. What can I do to be prepared for possible blindness?

    1. Thank you Wendy

    2. you're very welcome! Wendy, Patient Leader.

  2. Thank you…. Your response is helpful!
Presently both eyes are dry although I did have wet in left eye several years ago and received Avastin shots returning it to dry! Yay!
My other eye is considered legally blind and I am doing everything to protect my left eye. I am still able to drive but as you mentioned I worry about what I would do if I can no longer drive. I am widowed and live alone. Not sure what you mean about contacting a low vision place…. Like what?

    1. I don't know which State you live in, so I am attaching a link, just for your general information, to low vision resources which can be accessed by State. This might help you to get started. There are different organizations in each State. The fee structure differs from service to service. https://www.enhancedvision.com/low-vision-resources.html There are also actual opthalmologists and occupational therapists who are low vision specialists. They will help you with ways to cope in everyday life. You might not need this at the moment, but I think it is worthwhile to get to know what's available. Here is a link to a story one of our Patient Leaders wrote on this topic. https://maculardegeneration.net/search?s=Low%20vision%20specialist. Warm wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

  3. Thanks…I live in NY…. Near Rochester

    1. Hi . I found these people online. A phone call to them might help you. They should at least be able to point you in the right direction to get advice about coping with low vision. https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/eye-institute/patient-services-information/low-vision-services.aspx. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.
