Drug for Dry MD waiting for approval

I went to my RS today for my Eyelea and was supposed to get my first Syfovre in my dry eye. My doctor was involved in the Syfovre trials and had been excited about it. However, he decided to hold off since I hadn't already started it. He said there is a new drug that will be approved soon. And, he isn't happy with what he is hearing with Syfovre. Does anyone here know what the new drug is called? I would love to research the trials on this drug. Thank you.

  1. The retina specialist told me that he would not inject for dry Macular Degeneration just now. Syfovre’s six month data report showed that there are complications of vasculitis where vessels become inflamed and can impair vision.
Zimura, is another drug, but even if the FDA approved to it, he would want to wait six months.

    1. I like the way your doctor thinks. Thanks for the information.

      1. The retina specialist wanted me to start shots every 4 months but from what I have read I’m skeptical about the shots he told me they have no way of telling if they work and I don’t like the side effects mos what to do ?

        1. The new medication Izervay received fda approval and should be available within a month. It has less risk for bad side effects. The injections are given monthly up to 12 months. https://www.brightfocus.org/macular/news/second-geographic-atrophy-treatment-receives-fda-approval
I am very excited about the new treatment. Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader
