Do YOU See the Black Center Hole Shown on Mac-D Photos

I’ve always been curious what others see with Mac-D. I have had dry AMD for over 11 years, at the intermediate stage, and have never seen the view that’s commonly shown for Mac-D with a big, black center. Anyone else? It’s blurry for me and parts of letters and/or numbers might be missing but never this big, black hole. Does that have anything to do with the size & location of drusen, or the difference between dry and wet? Maybe it’s at the more advanced stage? Would love your feedback - what you see and at what stage you are. Linda Hoopes, Advocate & Team Member

  1. I just officially reached the geographic atropy stage. The retinal specialist says it’s mild in one eye and moderate in the other. Who knew they staged GA? I see distortion and blurring but no black hole. Sharon Moore patient leader

    1. Thanks for the feedback, Sharon - That’s interesting! I didn’t know there were stages with GA either. We just keep learning, don’t we? You don’t see the big, black spot either and was wondering who does! Linda, Team Member
