Communication with Family & Friends

Please share your experience with telling your family and friends about your macular degeneration journey (e.g., diagnosis, progression, day-to-day life).

  1. I told my family straight away, but I knew my parents would be sad because there is a hereditary component, and they both experienced this. I told my friends during general conversations about health, but I don't give them updates. When and if it becomes obvious that I am having difficulties, they'll know what it is Wendy, Advocate.

    1. I can imagine that your parents really empathized with you when first sharing your diagnosis with them. It sounds like your friends and family are really supportive of your macular degeneration journey and they're in tune with your needs as time goes on which is really wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us Wendy. With love, Abby (MacularDegeneration.net Team Member).
