Tips for driving at night

Anybody still drive at night?. My night driving is very limited . I drive on familiar roads not over 3 miles at most.
I first thought i needed brighter headlights. I have standard LED headlights on a 6 year old car. Would those brighter Xenon lights help?. I also notice that lane markers which are clean and white is a big help. Many lane stripes are a dull gray which makes it hard to see if you stay in your lane. Any other tips?

  1. i am not sure about those Xenon lights. I have heard that overtime headlights can become less bright. You might check with a mechanic. You might want to give the yellow tint glasses a try. They don’t darken the view. They reduce glare and improve contrast. Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader

    1. I still drive at night sometimes, with wet amd in right eye and dry in the left. I only drive within a small radius, and only in familiar territory, like you. Luckily the days are getting longer now in Sydney, with summer approaching and daylight saving having started. Now I can drive out for an early dinner, but it's dark when I return. I agree with you that the lane markings are vital, so familiar territory helps me know when to merge, etc, even if the markings are worn. Rain is another thing I look out for, because when the roads are wet everything is glary and unclear. I don't know about the headlights, unfortunately. My main problem is the bright headlights of other cars coming towards me. The yellow tint glasses that Sharon mentioned sound interesting. I might give those a try if I can find any here. Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

      1. I found that yellow sun glasses cuts the glare of oncoming lights. I have dry AMD

        1. thank you for commenting. Did you get yellow fit-over sunglasses, or yellow sunglasses that are worn alone? Are they also polarized? Wendy, Patient Leader.
