Is step testing harmful?
When I went in for the injection my doc said he had hoped to see a reduction in swelling but that he couldn't start out with the drug he wanted to use.
I had one of his admin people explain the step test (lab rat) process.
My question is.... Am I losing ground to the disease for several months while the insurance company (UHC) gets to meddle in my treatment?
i can’t speak to whether you will lose ground but it’s a good question to ask your retinal specialist. I know that insurance companies insist on doctors starting with the less expensive and older medications first. Often patients respond well to these treatments. If you fail to respond your doctor can make a case for using one of the newer and more expensive medications. Regards, Sharon Moore patient leader
