Diet and AMD

I was diagnosed with Dry AMD 6 months ago. I have not shared the diagnosis with anyone other than my husband. When I did tell another physician about it I felt a weight taken off but still am not able to tell anyone else. At the moment it has not affected my vision but I can’t stop obsessing about what foods I should eat and what to stay away from. I’m not sure how to stop this constant thinking of what foods are appropriate. I wonder if anyone else has dealt with this feeling and also how to share my diagnosis?

  1. It is understandable that you haven’t shared your diagnosis to anyone besides your family. At this point it hasn’t affected your life and may not for years to come. Lifestyle changes including diet may help to slow the progression. https://maculardegeneration.net/lifestyle-changes. My suggestion would be to follow the suggested diet as best you can but don’t deprive yourself of favorite foods on occasion. Reach out with any specific questions you may have. We are here for you.
