Changing medications

When first diagnosed with wet AMD in one eye, I received injections of Lucentis. After a period of time, the medication was changed to Eylea. Several months later, I was again changed to Cimerli. Two months ago, I was diagnosed with wet AMD in the other eye also, as well as macular edema in both eyes.
I trust my ophthalmologist who also has extremely good credentials, but “ I think this is what we need to do” is basically his response after showing me images from last and current appointments.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation and now know what’s going on?

  1. there are quite a few medications that can be used in the injections. I know that doctors can choose to change medications for a patient after a while, if they feel a different one would work better. I just looked up Cimerli because I hadn't heard of it before. It can also be used for macular edema. Perhaps that is why your doctor is using that one now. How long is it until your next appointment? Can you ask your doctor about it then? Best wishes, Wendy, Patient Leader.

    1. , thank you. Next appt. in a month. Just thought someone might be able to provide me a little insight sooner rather than later.

      1. this is a link to Cimerli's website. https://www.cimerli.com/. It says it is similar to Lucentis but it is also used for macular edema. Perhaps this explains your doctor's decision a bit more. Wendy, Patient Leader.

    2. Thanks!
