Hi, I am an 80-year old who up until about a year ago I have been lucky that there have been no changes in my eye. I had been getting a shot about every 3 to 4 months. Other than my Retina Dr I am still seeing my regular eye Dr. Not sure if I need both. Does everyone still see both eye Drs?

That’s a good question, <inline-mention user-id="3134774" username="roro"/> . I hope there are lots of responses. Personally I only see my retina specialist, when I go for shots, although I’ll be going to an optometrist soon for new glasses. But now you’ve got me wondering if I’m doing the right thing. Although some people do just see their retina specialists, it sounds like most people do continue to see both doctors because they receive different kinds of care and testing. I started shots in March 2020 when Pandemic hit. I have not seen anyone else other than Retina Doctor at this point. I am wondering if my vision has changed at all, if it has it is not apparent to me. With pandemic protocols and limited travels have not been out much, so no other appointments. it is on my list to ask if I should make appointment with other eye doctor. I do not get a detailed vision test when I go in for my shots, so I am guessing I need to see other doctor occasionally for eye vision check. I have not been given a lot of guidelines on this subject

 Hello, <inline-mention user-id="3114138" username="chellye"/> ! Just checking in with you to see how you're doing. I do see my optometrist once a year to be sure my prescription isn't changing and to get new contacts and glasses. I also see my retina specialist to check the progression of my macular degeneration. To me, they both specialize in different things, but also work together (from different offices) to make sure my eyes are working as well as possible. Have you had a chance to make an appointment yet? I know things are so strange with the pandemic going on. I see my regular eye doctor every year. I need glasses so he takes care of that for me. I get a shot every 8 weeks so my retina doctor takes care of that

I'm still seeing both eye doctors but they are merging their practices together. I have an appointment with an optometrist for corrective lens this month. My Ophthalmologist didn't do such a great job for corrective lens last year when they did not even try to correct vision in my left eye which had the worst vision. You got to be proactive with your eye care!
